Iohannes Dei gratia rex Angl(ie) dominus Hibern(ie) et dux Normannie Aquit(anie) et comes Andeg(auie) omnibus fidelibus suis salutem.  Sciatis nos concessisse et presenti carta nostra confirmasse dilecto et fideli seruienti nostro Ioh(ann)i de Merk’ totam terram cum omnibus pertin(entiis) suis quam Henr(icus) rex pater noster dedit in villa Albe Rohenge in Essex’.  Preterea dedimus et presenti carta nostra confirmauimus eidem Ioh(an)ni totam terram cum pertin(entiis) que fuit Muncenbote in villa de Cunbertone in com(itatu) de Cantebr’, habend(am) et tenend(am) de nob(is) et heredibus nostris dicto Ioh(ann)i et heredibus suis libere et quiete imperpetuum per liberum seruicium commorandi in seruicio nostro a festo sancti Mich(aelis) usque Pur(ificationem) beate Marie cum duobus falconibus laueriis herenariis et uno leporario heronario ad custum nostrum.  Quod ut firmum sit et stabile presentem cartam sigillo nostro confirmauimus.  T(estibus) H(uberto) Cantuar’ archiepiscopo cancellar(io) nostro, G(alfrido) fil(io) Petri iustic(iario) nostro et Willelmo filio Rand(ulfi).  Dat’ per manum dicti H(uberti) Cant’ archiepiscopi cancellar(ii) nostri secundo Idus Augusti regni nostri secundo.

Notfication that the king has granted to John de Mark the land that Henry II gave him in the vill of White Roding in Essex, and grant of the land that was held by Muncenbot in the vill of ‘Cunberton’in Kent, to hold for the free service of remaining in our service from Michaelmas until the Purification with two falcons and one greyhound for the king’s use.
