Ioh(ann)es Dei gratia rex Angl(ie) etc dominus Hibern(ie) dux Nom(annie) Aquit(anie) comes And(egauie) dilectis et fidelibus suis iustic(iario) et thesaurario et ceteris baron(ibus) de scacc(ario) salutem. Sciatis quod dedimus abbati et conuentui sancti Admund(i) decem marc(as) annuas ad scacc(arium) nostrum percipiendas ad reperationem feretri sancti Admund(i) propter quendam saphirum et unum rebeum quos obtuleramus predicto martiri et quos ipsi tradiderunt nob(is) habendos tota vita nostra, ita quod reuertantur ad locum illum post obit(um) nostrum, et ideo vob(is) mandamus quod decem marc(as) annuatim eis interim reddatis ad scaccarium Pasch(e). Notification that the king has granted to Bury St Edmunds Abbey ten marks each year at the exchequer for repairing the bier of St Edmund, because the saphire and ruby that he had offered to the martyr the abbot and monks have returened to the king to hold for his lifetime, to be returned to that place after the king’s death. Order to deliver the ten marks annually at the exchequer in the Easter term.
